Open and Closed Doors

protein bites recipe refreshing the soul Oct 26, 2023

It is a season of doors opening and closing. And a season of revolving doors.

We have had opportunities and possibilities cross our path recently that I thought were open doors.  Then they closed.

We had an opportunity that we thought was a wide-open door, then it closed, another opened, then it closed, the first door re-opened, then it closed again.  I’m not kidding! It was a stressful period as we had to keep readjusting, pivoting, and changing plans.  But then God gave us a gift! 🎁 He showed us WHY that door closed.  It wasn’t to harm us or stress us out.  It was to protect us and prosper us in a way we wouldn’t have imagined.

Reminds me of the Garth Brooks song,

🎶 “Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
And just because He doesn't answer, doesn't mean He don't care
'Cause some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.”  🎶

Sometimes we don’t know why those doors close. Unanswered prayers, unrealized dreams, or opportunities that end with a closed door and we don’t understand why. At least not then and maybe not on this side of heaven.

It is then that we have a choice to make if we will trust God through it or not.

⍰ Can we believe that his ways are higher than ours?

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

⍰ Can we believe He is omnipotent, all-powerful, and omniscient, all-knowing?

⍰ Can we trust Him even when we don’t have answers or understand?

Today I see two recent “closed doors”.

The one He showed me why and showed me He had something so much better for me!

And the other that I don’t understand is raw and rips my heart in two.

But I’m going to believe that God loves me as His Word declares. He wants to prosper me not to harm me.  And THROUGH the hard times I will keep my eyes on Him and know He will walk me through it.

If you are facing a closed door and need prayer, please feel free to reach out to me. I’d be glad to pray with you.
