Baby Steps To Setting Godly Health Goals

goal setting refreshing the soul Oct 06, 2023

Over the last couple of months, I have enjoyed watching my grandson graduate from crawler to running all over the place!  This picture is him walking hand-in-hand with Mama and Grandma and it melts my heart!  He held our hands for a little stability, but also I think for a little comfort as he took in all the sights and sounds of the farm.   Every once in a while, he bobbles or stumbles, but he is pretty stable now.  But it all started with one baby step!

Progression, stages, baby steps. It’s how we grow. It’s how we learn.  It’s how we mature.

It is also the best way to start to implement healthy habits and self-care.

Neglecting self-care leaves us depleted and weary in many areas.

➡️ Physically we can be exhausted, run-down, or even physically ill from stressing our immune systems.

➡️ Emotionally we can be stressed out, anxious, or even depressed.

➡️ Spiritually we begin to feel disconnected from God and possibly searching for direction.

And it can be a vicious cycle, one leading to the other, leading to another, not knowing what came first or where to start to feel better. That is because we can’t separate these areas.  God created us intricately interwoven with a body, spirit, and soul.

So where do we begin? We start with baby steps! 👣

Adding in small elements of self-care can have a big💥 impact on our health and wellbeing!

1) Prioritize your time to fit this in.  We make room in our schedules for what is important.

2) Evaluate which area of self-care needs the most attention.  I always start by evaluating where I am at with my relationship with the Lord (which includes my quiet time with Him, prayer, and being in His Word).

3) Take action one baby step at a time to implement the healthy habit.

Pick one small thing you can do for your health with a heart of doing it to glorify and honor the Lord.

When we add small changes, one baby step at a time, we can experience success and realize it is:

Feasible,

Obtainable, and

Sustainable.

What area of health do you think needs the most attention right now? 🤔

How is your spiritual health and your relationship with the Lord?  Are you spending time with Him? Are you in His Word daily?  Are you carving out time for prayer and worship? If not, start there!

CHALLENGE

I challenge you to set apart even 5-10 minutes ⏰ to read His Word and pray, giving Him thanks and praise. Devotionals are great but they do not take the place of the Bible.

If you don’t know where to start join us next week as we begin to read the Gospel of John this month.  We will read one chapter each day in the Bible App.

21 Days In The Gospel Of John

Take that first baby step. I would love to have you join us!
